Primary School Pride LGBT+ Visual Book List Poster

This is a visual and themed book list and recommendations A3 poster. It is appropriate for all primary school aged children, and showcases a range of picture books, graphic novels and standard chapter books. They are all LGBTQA+ inclusive and feature characters with this representation, e.g. main characters feeling a little different and celebrating individuality, same sex parents, gender non-conforming children, etc. All of these books are well written, modern, positive and diverse. This poster can be put up not just for Pride Month, but at any time of the year around your school. Make sure to have some of the books available in your classroom or school library so that children can read and enjoy these fantastic stories.

Want to encourage reading for pleasure in your school, which is actually linked to the PSHRE/PSHE curriculum? This resource could well be perfect for you! This resource contains nine different PSHRE themed A4 page posters. The titles include the following; Race Disabilities Wellbeing and Mental Health LGBTQA+ Faith, Spirituality and Religion School Life Home Life Hobbies The World Around Us On each page are 16 book covers with headers that are linked to that particular theme and are modern, noteworthy children’s books that would appeal to Key Stage 2 and 3 students. It is hoped that by reading about some of these books, students can identify with and see themselves with some of the characters, helping to deal with real life issues that they could be experiencing . The posters are also hoped to broaden their reading choices, as well as develop empathy and understanding. Accelerated Reader levels are also included. Print out and pop this stunning set of resources in classrooms, your school library or even the reception area so that parents and visitors can see how much you value reading and the wellbeing of your students.

Mental Health Awareness Week is from 13th to the 19th May. Stimulate learning, emphathy and insight about mental health issues with this fiction book recommendations poster. All of the books are appropriate for young teens (Key Stage 3 pupils) and feature a comprehensive collection of diverse and inclusive books that I would recommend to any student. Each book is labelled with a particular mental health condition, which can act as trigger warnings. Make sure you have the books available in your school library and pop up this fab poster around the school to promote to pupils. Books are also differentiated so there are some high level books for those more able students, as well as accessible texts for weaker readers.
